Our Story
20 Years of BeyondSki
BeyondSki Snowsports was founded in 2006 by longtime friends and ski professionals Charles Biggers and Dino Haak, who shared a passion for skiing, innovation, and doing things a little differently.
Interestingly, BeyondSki was never originally intended to be a ski school. The company was created to develop innovative ski products and accessories that went beyond what was traditionally available in ski shops—hence the name BeyondSki.
With several inventions already in development, Charles and Dino decided to establish a ski school to help support their ideas. But what began as a way to fund their inventions soon became their greatest passion.
Twenty years later, the suitcase of prototypes is still waiting for its moment, while BeyondSki has become something far more meaningful than originally imagined.
Our Philosophy — Small by Choice
From the beginning, our vision has been to bring world-class ski instruction to the slopes of Snoqualmie Pass.
We believe that exceptional instruction is not about the size of a ski school, but about the quality of the people who teach there. Much like a small French restaurant with just a handful of tables, we deliberately keep BeyondSki small, allowing us to focus on what we do best: providing outstanding instruction with personal attention to every student.
Each of our instructors brings unique talents, experience, and teaching strengths to the mountain. We take great care in matching those strengths with the individual needs, personalities, and goals of our students. Above all, BeyondSki has always been about people. We see ourselves as more than a ski school. We're a family of instructors and students who share a love for the mountains, where lasting friendships are just as important as improving your skiing.
As we celebrate our 20th anniversary, we remain committed to the same philosophy that has guided us from the beginning: exceptional instruction, personal connections, and the simple joy of skiing.
Charles Biggers — Co-Founder of BeyondSki
Charles Biggers was a man of extraordinary talents,
endless curiosity, and an incredible passion for life.
Whether on the ski slopes, the golf course, or pursuing
one of his many other interests, Charles approached
everything he did with enthusiasm, determination,
and a desire to excel.
A US Army Veteran, a former professional football player,
a black belt in karate, and holder of a master's degree in
business, Charles was a man of many accomplishments.
He was also remarkably talented with his hands and even
tailored his own suits!
Perhaps one of the most inspiring chapters of his life was his journey into skiing. Charles didn't discover the sport until the age of 45, but what he lacked in an early start, he more than made up for with passion and determination. He became an exceptional mogul skier, a highly skilled and respected instructor, and eventually served as Snowsports Director at The Summit at Snoqualmie.
But Charles's passion for skiing went far beyond his own accomplishments. He loved sharing the sport with others and worked extensively with the Washington State Special Olympics, helping people discover the confidence, freedom, and joy that skiing can bring. His dedication to his community also extended beyond the mountains, including many years of service on a community housing committee.
Outside of skiing, one of Charles's greatest loves was golf. He could often be found enjoying a round with close friends, including Seattle sports legends Ken Griffey Jr. and Kenny Easley. For Charles, sports weren't simply about ability or competition. They were about friendships, camaraderie, and enjoying life.
Charles brought a lifetime of experience, wisdom, and enthusiasm to BeyondSki. His leadership, friendship, and love for skiing helped shape the school into what it is today.
Charles will be deeply missed, but his remarkable spirit, his friendship, and his passion for the mountains will always remain part of the BeyondSki family.
